Upgrading The Exterior Of Your Property: Small Tips That Make A Big Difference

Home & Garden Blog

The exterior of your home is the first thing people see when they come up to your property, and you want the impression you give them to be a positive one. There are many ways you can upgrade the outside of your property so it looks more modern and well-maintained. Here are easy and simple tips that make a huge difference in improving the appeal of your property.

Upgrade doors and gates with clavos

What are clavos? Clavos is a Spanish term that loosely translates to "decorative nail". These sturdy and durable nails are used to adorn doorways, gates, and more. Clavos are often ornately patterned or textured with very  vivid nail heads to upgrade doors and gates with ease.

You can also use clavos for:

  • rain gutters
  • wooden barrel planters
  • mailboxes
  • window shutters

You can buy clavos in many styles and designs at your local home improvement store. Make sure to buy all-weather varieties of these nails so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion.

Consider Small Paint Jobs

You don't have to paint your whole home to give it a whole new appeal. You can simply paint your front door a vivid new hue, such as turquoise, stark white, seagull gray, or even a lovely pumpkin orange. When you add clavos-style nails to the hardware on your door and then paint it a bright and inviting color, you make the entire framework stand out in positive ways.

You can do the same thing with any visible gates on your property as well: simply paint them the same color as your front door to tie the whole color scheme together so all the metal framework takes center stage in positive ways.

Add a gravel walkway

A gravel walkway or stone path leading to your front door is an excellent way to draw attention to your door's unique appeal while adding a bit of charm to the whole deal. Simple brick or stone pavers laid out along the grass in a path will create beautiful results. If you have a sidewalk already, then consider simply lining it with crushed limestone or rive rock to give it a more classic and whimsical appeal.

Adding texture to your property in the form of clavos, painting and even natural stone can bring out your property's exterior appeal in whole new ways. These projects are easy to accomplish and can make a huge impression on your yard. Contact a supplier, like The Rustic Express, for more help.

Stepping into Greenhouse Gardening

My name is Michelle Landon. When I was a little girl, I loved helping my mother and grandmother in the garden. My passion for gardening grew, and in my adult years, it became my number one hobby. I have lived in apartments and mastered the art of having container gardens. I now have over an acre of land and can grow just about anything. My dream was to one day have a greenhouse and be able to grow all the flowers my heart desired. Six years ago I got my first small greenhouse and was able to start bringing my gardening dream to fruition. Today I have two greenhouses and working in them is even better than I imagined. I would like to share my greenhouse gardening experiences with you.
