When It's Time To Install A New Water Heater

Home & Garden Blog

Your water heater is going to last from 8 to 12 years, and it is not a good idea to wait until your water heater completely fails before you get a new one. Over time, the tank starts to corrode, and you may find that you have rust-colored water when you turn on the hot water. Your water heater can start to leak, creating the potential for damage in your home. Loud noises coming from your hot water heater when it turns on can indicate problems with the heating element or sediment building up inside it. If you have cracks in your tank or if you notice that your water isn't getting hot enough, it's time to consider a new water heater installation.

The Water Is Discolored

Water discoloration occurs when there is corrosion on the inside of your hot water heater tank. The discoloration is caused by rust, and eventually your tank is going to corrode enough to create holes in the tank. Discolored water can ruin clothing in your washing machine, and it is not going to be anything you want to bathe in. You will need to have a new water heater installed when you have rust-colored water caused by corrosion in the tank.

Your Hot Water Heater Is Banging When It Heats Up

If you hear loud clanging noises when your hot water heats up, this can be sediment that has built up in your tank. You can have your tank cleaned out to see if this solves the problem. If the issue is not with sediment but with the heating element, it could be time to have your tank replaced with a new one. Your system could be inefficient, costing you more money to heat your water than it should.

You Have Already Repaired the Tank

Small leaks in your hot water tank can be repaired. If you have needed to have your hot water tank repaired a few times because of leaks, it's time to invest in a new tank. Installing a new water heater in your home will give you the hot water you need without having to be concerned about continual repairs for leaks.

Once your hot water heater is ten years old, replacement is a good idea. If you find small cracks in your tank, if you need consistent repairs, or if your water is rusty, it's time to call for a new water heater installation.

Stepping into Greenhouse Gardening

My name is Michelle Landon. When I was a little girl, I loved helping my mother and grandmother in the garden. My passion for gardening grew, and in my adult years, it became my number one hobby. I have lived in apartments and mastered the art of having container gardens. I now have over an acre of land and can grow just about anything. My dream was to one day have a greenhouse and be able to grow all the flowers my heart desired. Six years ago I got my first small greenhouse and was able to start bringing my gardening dream to fruition. Today I have two greenhouses and working in them is even better than I imagined. I would like to share my greenhouse gardening experiences with you.
